Discover the authentic side of Ostuni through an experience filled with traditional flavours, ancient olive trees, historic masserie and the rural landscapes of the Coastal Dunes Nature Park.
Departure is from Ostuni at 4:00 pm, with return at approximately 8:00 pm. The tour can be booked as a standalone experience or combined with the “Cooking and Traditions” experience.
Tour itinerary
The day begins in the centre of Ostuni with a stop at a historic pastry shop, where you can enjoy an iced coffee alongside the traditional “tetta della monaca”, one of the area’s best-known pastries.
Visit to Masseria Brancati
After the pastry shop stop, the tour continues by vintage minibus to historic Masseria Brancati, set amid the striking Plain of Monumental Olive Trees.
The guided visit includes:
- the monumental olive grove;
- the underground Roman-era olive mill;
- the above-ground olive mill dating from 1880.
During the visit, you will learn about the history of local olive oil production and discover the traditional techniques once used to process the olives.
Extra virgin olive oil tasting
At the end of the visit, you will enjoy a guided tasting of extra virgin olive oil produced at the masseria.
The tasting includes an introduction to the oil’s distinctive qualities, the production methods and the techniques used to recognise a high-quality product.
Coastal Dunes Nature Park
The tour continues towards the Coastal Dunes Regional Nature Park, travelling through an authentic landscape characterised by:
- centuries-old olive trees;
- historic masserie;
- traditional lamie, rural stone buildings typical of Puglia;
- country lanes and unpaved tracks.
Along the way, there will be a break to enjoy a traditional Puglian panzerotto.
Sunset by the River Morelli and return
The day ends at sunset near the River Morelli, in one of the most scenic corners of the Coastal Dunes Nature Park.
After taking in the landscape and the colours of the sunset, you will return to Ostuni, arriving at approximately 8:00 pm.
