Discover the Adriatic Coast and its hinterland. With this itinerary, you will enjoy the stunning Apulian landscape, dotted with small villages, charming towns, and endless stretches of olive groves as far as the eye can see. Nine days dedicated to discovering the most authentic places of this wonderful land, starting from Monopoli and reaching the deep south, where Italy comes to an end: Santa Maria di Leuca. There will also be stops inland and in some of the most iconic towns of Puglia (and beyond), such as Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, Matera, Lecce, and much more: a truly unforgettable experience, not just a simple holiday! You will spend 9 days completely immersed in this unique setting, surrounded by dry stone walls, vineyards, olive groves, trulli, and authentic masserie. Details of your tour itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Bari/Brindisi towards Valle d’Itria (Locorotondo)

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll collect your car (rental is not included in the price) and depart for your accommodation in the land of trulli in Locorotondo, recognized as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, with its picturesque alleys. You’ll stay in an authentic masseria where you will enjoy the pool and sleep in a trullo!

Day 2: Discovering the ancient farmhouses of Puglia (Monopoli and Ostuni)

Departure to Monopoli, where your adventure with authentic Apulian food will take place (from 10am to 3pm). You’ll be busy making orecchiette and handmade pasta in the unique setting of Masseria Garrappa, accompanied by locals, who, in addition to explaining and sharing the art of handmade pasta, will tell you about our region and prepare a truly special zero-kilometer lunch! In the afternoon you will drive towards Ostuni (the White City), a picturesque town waiting to be discovered. Renowned for its characteristic historic center, it boasts a wonderful medieval town full of narrow streets and whitewashed houses. The day includes a guided tour of the historic Masseria Brancati, located in the heart of the centuries-old olive groves of the Marina di Ostuni. Completely immersed in greenery, the fortified farmhouse retains its original features, steeped in ancient history. The tour will focus on the underground olive mill, a tour of the monumental olive grove, and a tasting of the farm’s oil and other products. Back to Locorotondo.

Day 3: The Adriatic Coast and the visit of its caves (Polignano a Mare)

Departure for Polignano a Mare, which we strongly recommend exploring. It is one of Puglia’s most renowned towns, with its historic center nestled on a stunning cliff. From here, we’ll depart for a boat tour (lasting approximately 3 hours) along the Adriatic coast, visiting the enchanting caves of Polignano a Mare and Monopoli, with a stop for a swim and a traditional Apulian aperitif — an unforgettable experience! Back to Locorotondo.

Day 4: The enchanting city (Matera)

Departure for Matera, which, although not part of Puglia, is worth a visit, as it is one of the oldest cities in the world, with evidence of human settlements dating back to the Paleolithic and continuing to the present day. Matera is also known as “the city of stones,” declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 and named European Capital of Culture in 2019 — not to be missed! We suggest a guided tour of the city or a tour in an Ape Calessino (additional charge) with a traditional lunch in a local tavern (additional charge). Back to Locorotondo.

Day 5: The trulli and the vineyards (Alberobello)

Free morning enjoying the Valle d’Itria and its charm! In the afternoon, head to Alberobello: also known as the “capital of the trulli” and a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site. With an expert guide, you’ll admire the wonders of this magical village! At sunset, a dinner in the vineyard awaits, where you will savor a traditional Apulian meal accompanied by a breathtaking setting. Back to Locorotondo.

Day 6: The Adriatic Coast of Salento (Otranto)

Castello Otranto Departure for Otranto, passing through San Foca (north of Otranto) and driving along one of the most characteristic scenic roads in the area: the Adriatic coast of Salento. Here, you will admire numerous panoramic viewpoints perfect for stunning photos, and you will also have the opportunity to enjoy a swim in one of the many spots you will encounter along the way, all suggested in our customized maps. In the afternoon, arrival at a traditional local agriturismo, where a fully Salento-style dinner awaits, lovingly prepared using only locally sourced, zero-kilometer ingredients. Overnight stay at the same property.

Day 7: Where the two seas meet (Santa Maria di Leuca)

Santa Maria di Leuca A free day to dedicate to the sea and the beaches. We recommend continuing along the Adriatic coast, passing through Porto Badisco, the stunning Zinzulusa Caves, and Castro Marina, until reaching Santa Maria di Leuca, the southernmost tip of Italy’s “heel.” Here, you can witness a unique visual phenomenon created by the meeting of different colors and currents, framed by the striking lighthouse and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria De Finibus Terrae. From this point, you can admire the meeting of the two seas (the Ionian and the Adriatic) and have the opportunity to add a boat tour (at an additional cost). Back to Otranto.

Day 8: The Baroque city (Lecce)

Piazza Duomo Lecce
Cultural trip to Italy. Beautiful young tourist woman visiting the baroque city of Lecce, Italy.
Before departing for the final destination of this tour, we recommend visiting the Bauxite Caves, located just outside Otranto on the road to Lecce, the last stop of the itinerary. The day will be dedicated to exploring this city, renowned for its elaborate and ornate decorations that adorn the façades of its most famous (and lesser-known) buildings — true symbols of Baroque architecture dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. An expert local guide will accompany you for part of the day. Free dinner and overnight stay in the city.

Day 9: Return to Bari/Brindisi

Departure for the relevant airport.
